Tennessee Synod of the Cumberland Presbyterian Synod is one of 5 synods of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. It is made up of four presbyteries (3 stateside and one overseas) – Columbia, Murfreesboro and Nashville, and the overseas presbytery of Liberia. There are a total of 156 Churches in the synod: Columbia (29), Murfreesboro (44), Nashville (55) and Liberia (28). The meetings of Synod are set by standing rules to meet on the first Thursday of each May, rotating it’s meeting between the three stateside presbyteries. The Synod supports the campus ministry programs at Middle Tennessee State University and Tennessee Technological University. The Synod also owns and supports a camp site, Crystal Springs Camp located near Kelso, Tennessee. The Synod also provides a financial consultant for all of the presbyteries. When the body meets, it is a delegated body with each presbytery allocated representatives based on their membership. There are a total of 9,575 active members in the 156 churches of the presbytery. The geographical boundaries of the synod run from the Tennessee River on the West to the time zone on the east, and from the Kentucky line on the north to the Alabama line on the south.
